ABA and the Military
Behavior analysts by definition concern themselves with matters of learning and conditioning. The experience of war exposes service members to learning and conditioning events that may leave them with maladaptive behaviors or habits, or deficits in functioning. The MilVet SIG calls attention to the rich history of behavior analytic work that can help remedy these problems within the military and veteran community. The SIG seeks to raise awareness within the behavior analytic community about the benefits that applied behavior analysis can have on this population. This SIG may also appeal to behavior analysts who, similar to those in other helping professions, desire to offer much-needed services to those who have served in the military.
